WS - Workmen's Shower Car

For use in areas with limited factilities, the railways provided some camp trains with shower cars. There were six vans coded WS 1 - 6.

The cars were converted between 1959 and 1960. Cars 3, 4, 5 were from the cut up bodies of 'off Register' _AB_ bogie passenger cars.

Not much info is available. The water tank was placed along the top of the roof. If the water was heated, it would have been by wood fire. It appears there were three shower cubicles per car ( cream painted windows )

The vans were scrapped by the 1980's.
