Joint Stock Sleeping Cars - 'Mount Lofty'


The car was built by Pullman, USA. It entered service about 1928.

When introduced, the two cars Macedon and Mt Lofty were the heaviest passenger cars in service on the VR and SAR, weighing some 80 tons.

In 1950 the car was sold to South Australian Railways.

It was condemned in 1964 and sold to the Commonwealth Railways. By 1981, it was in the "Tea and Sugar" train consist.
