The car was issued to service on 14/9/1923.
The car was autocoupled in 1939 and issued to traffic as VR Sleeper 5.
In 1984 the car was renamed for use on the "Train of Knowledge".
The car was preserved by the AREA in 1989.
By 1992 the car was allocated at Seymour.
