The car was built as 'Tandeni' as a V&SA Joint Stock Twinette car in 1956. It had 20 sleeping berths. In 1957 the car was renamed to 'Paiti'.
In 1970 the car was converted from belt drive generator to Head-end power.
About 1984 the car was reclassed to JTA_ 4.
