To provide for on train catering with the new train sets, some N cars were designed with a mini refreshment service. These cars were coded BRN. Seventeen cars were introduced to service between 1982/1983. The car numbers were: 29, 31, 32, 34, 35, 37, 38, 40, 41, 43, 44, 46, 47, 49, 50, 52 and 53.
These cars replaced _BN_ cars in existing sets.
