In 1984, the VR Sleeping Cars No.15 and No.16 were given the class letters SS and renumbered to 285 and 286 respectively.
In 1989 SS 286 was modified to a sitting car and reclassed to _BS_ 219.
In 1989 SS 285 was similarly traeted and reclassed BS 218.
Both cars were built as sitting cars and had been converted to VAC_ sleeping cars in 1962.
