VFW - Second Class Sitting Cars

In 1972, nine _AW_ cars were converted for standard gauge use. They were painted the VR blue and gold scheme. The class was VFW and the cars numbered 1 to 9.

The cars were used for special excursion trips, generally scouting or defence 'specials' that required one train.

In 1979/1980 five VFW cars were returned to broad gauge and recoded to _BW_.

In 1983 three cars were returned to broad gauge and were placed into service as railmotor trailers with the class letters _MT_.

The last remaining car was removed from records in 1983 and sold interstate.
