From late 1998, at least 37 VLEX's were placed onto standard gauge bogies fitted with constant contact side bearers and recoded to VLEY. Currently, they may be seen on the SCT train between Laverton (Vic) and Perth (WA).
Known numbers are: 812, 813, 825, 828, 829, 831, 836, 837, 841, 843, 883, 893, 900, 907, 912, 915, 919, 931, 937, 953, 957, 966, 969, 976, 978, 985, 988, 990, 994, 1004, 1011, 1021, 1028 - 1030, 1032, 1037.
