VMAY - Motorail Car Transport

In 1979/1980 the Mildura Motorail transports were recoded to VMAY. This lettering did not show that the vehicles were permitted for passenger speed. Though most of the line speed to Mildura was 100km/hr, or freight speed anyway.

VMAY numbers were 2, 8, 9, 11, 17, 20. No.8 and 17 were relettered from _AX_, the rest from VMAX.

Between February and June 1985, numbers 2, 8, 9, 17 were reclassed and renumbered to VMPY 5, 6, 7, 9 respectively.

In July/August, VMAY 11, 20 were reclassed and renumbered to VMAP 8, 9.
